Special guest Tim from Baby Got Books is here with a guest post about a very special event that I’ve been looking forward to for months!

Hey there! My name is Tim, and I can usually be found minding my own business at my own blog, Baby Got Books. Many thanks to the Eskimo Bliss posse for inviting me over to share some news that I’m pretty excited about. We’re kicking off a brand new reading series in the Atlanta area that we’re creatively calling the Baby Got Books Reading Series. (We were up all night coming up with that one.) Our goal is to blow the doors off of the typical stodgy book world by showcasing exciting authors in front of a hip, good looking, and energetic crowd. Also: there should be music.

The author will be reading from his excellent book, Love is a Mix Tape. If you haven’t read the book, it tells the story of Sheffield’s relationship with his wife through their collection of mix tapes. Sheffield’s wife died unexpectedly of a brain aneurysm just as they were beginning their lives together. The box of tapes that Sheffield is left with provides a context for regaining his footing in life, while also providing a conduit for memories of happier times. The book is really a love letter to the remarkable power of music. If you’re a music fan, you’ll find plenty in its pages to relate to.

Following the reading, Atlanta band The Swear will bring the rock. In keeping with our mission statement, they will be fully plugged in and ready to rock. Govern yourself accordingly.

The evening will be held at Wordsmiths Books in Decatur, GA (Google Maps). Wordsmiths is located just off Decatur Square and is one block from the Decatur MARTA station. The evening is FREE, and FREE drinks will be provided. If you don’t have the book yet, be sure to support our favorite indie book store by picking up a copy of the book there. Did we mention that the evening is free?

If you make it to the reading, be sure to say find me and say hello.

Thanks for having me over!
