end of weekend rambling

May 4, 2008

Just a few things on my mind, and to briefly recap my weekend…

  • My baby went to work this morning at 8AM, and is still there (15 hours later). SUCKS! He is so not going to be in a pleasant mood when he gets home.
  • The most rewarding thing about having a record label is when you get the pleasant surprise messages in your inbox reminding you that there are a few people out there who give a shit. Today that came courtesy of Jamison from the Rainy Day Collective, who wrote fondly of the eskimo kiss t-shirt that he bought from pacer in 2001, saying it’s still his favorite shirt; and then from the band The Sour Notes from Austin, who sent me a blind demo submission email. Typically I might not even listen to it (I would mean to, but then forget) but today I happened to… REALLY excellent stuff that reminds me of Fountains of Wayne raised on a steady diet of The Beach Boys. Check them out.
  • Yesterday I had a massage, then went to see Yeasayer. Rock. Photos here (of the show, not the massage).
  • Later With Jools Holland is a really great show.
  • This weekend I also finished my song about the Bad Driver and learned a Mountain Goats tune. Yay me.
  • Oh. Richard Blais is not gay, folks. People keep finding my blog for searching on things like “richard blais gay” or “blais chef gay”. Now I guess even more people will since I put the terms together like that. But he’s not. Not that there would be anything wrong with it if he was, but he’s not. He is married, and he and his wife are expecting their first child next month.

Isn’t Richard Blais married? I seem to remember him mentioning his wife on the show.

When are you next playing in town? Dying to hear you …

Yes, he’s married and he and his wife are expecting their first child in June.

I am playing June 28 at Kavarna in Oakhurst!

Don’t know if you get the Ovation channel on your cable/satellite package, but they had a “Later with Jools Holland” marathon on last night.

Yes, that’s why I was thinking it was awesome! Watched several episodes yesterday.

YAY! Kavarna is on my Outlook calendar. I live in Decatur, so Kavarna is practically around the corner.
