Here’s to progress!
January 31, 2008
So January has come and almost gone. What a strange, bizarre month it was for me. On the upside though, I’ve done really well with my “things to accomplish in 2008” list. I was thinking it would be good to check it at the end of each month and take a look at what I’ve accomplished, so here goes:
- Make serious progress on my book – nada
- Record (at least) an EP’s worth of songs – studio time is booked for April!
- Visit my parents once a month – missed going home last weekend as I was sick, but planning on visiting this weekend
- Learn more about Buddhism/Visit the Buddhist temple in KM – I’m reading a great Buddhism book called Against the Stream and have several more waiting to read after that one. I need to call my friend Paula about visiting the temple!
- Visit some things in Atlanta I’ve yet to see:
High Museum – not yet
The Wren’s Nest – nope - Get organized:
Get rid of clutter, one room at a time – living room, dining room are in great shape. We’ve started on the bedroom. It’s getting there!
Organize my eskimo kiss records (”records” meaning info, data, etc.) – I’ve GOT to do this in Feb, if for no other reason that to get my taxes in order. - Get a new bed, change setup of bedroom – DONE!
- Start doing yoga (this one I’ve already started, yay me) – I have been ROCKING the yoga, I do it about four times a week. I can feel a huge difference already… it’s such a great way to start my day!
- Podcast more often (once every 4-6 weeks is the goal) – Gosh I really need to get a new podcast up. Soon.
- Get prints made of some of my Cabo photos – I can’t believe it’s taking me so long to do this.
- Read all my new books and refrain from purchasing any more until doing so – Lessee, so far I’ve read two 33 1/3 books — In Utero and Doolittle. As I mentioned, now I’m reading Against the Stream. It’s been hard to refrain from purchasing new ones, but so far so good!
So, I’m pretty pleased with myself. It’s been a productive January. Not to mention I’ve also been working on two upcoming eskimo kiss releases, I got a great review and raise at work, AND I just booked a show in Athens! Onward and upward!

I’ve never been to Wren’s Nest, either, and I’ve been dying to go. If you need a plus-one, let me know.
The O’Keefe exhibit opens at the High in about a week; that should give you a reason to go.
Booked a show in Athens????? DETAILS!
Beth – we should totally go to the Wren’s nest! and yes, I’m taking my little solo project (www.myspace.com/thegoodgraces – shameless self promotion) on the road – Feb 28 at Flicker Bar!!!
I’ve been through Zoso/IV/Runes by Zeppelin and Radiohead’s OK Computer 33 1/3 books. Can’t say enough about them.
Yes, I have the OK Computer one to read soon, and got the Pet Sounds one too. They are great! I really want to check out the Celine Dion one.
We’ll find a sunny day and hit the Wren’s Nest. I’ve put your Athens show on my calendar; if I can escape from the office, I’ll be there!
yes, sounds great!!!
